Koala hugging and Harbour Partying

Hey guys -- just wanted slap this picture up of me hugging a young koala up in Brissie - how cute is that? - little squidgy thing :) Again it's taken me an age to update this , there's a lot more to follow on my time in Brisbane and Melbourne...

Started my new job this week, which has been brilliant so far. Crazily hectic - haven't really had a moment to stop and think so far - but very rewarding. Lots more responsibility and a much more varied range of tasks than my last job, so it's just what I'm looking for really. I'll keep you posted!

I'm off to Sydney's Harbour Party this afternoon (Sunday 25 Feb), a big open-air dance party, overlooking the harbour, in the botanical gardens. Promises to be lot of fun if it's not heavily rained-out, as it was last year. It's overcast right now, so... fingers crossed.

The harbour party is part of the Mardi Gras celebrations - basically the biggest gay party in the world. Sydney's population swells with tourists, here to party, every year at this time. It all culminates next weekend with a huge street parade, - attended by half a million Sydneysiders - and another string of dance parties. Conde Nast Traveller recently listed it as one of the world's "top ten costume events," according to Mardi Gras' promotional blurb.

Paul just arrived in town from London last night and is the first of a gaggle of buddies from home to head to Sydney over the coming week :) I'll be thinking of lots of other mates - such as Chris, Beth, Debs and Richard - who wanted to make it Down Under but couldn't... there's always next year guys. And stop wishing for rain you vindictive gits! -- J
