We've been enjoying some very stormy weather here in Sydney. Last Friday saw some of the wettest and windiest conditions for thirty years. Graham, Chris and I were largely oblivious though as we battled through driving rain on a three-hour car trip up the coast to Port Stephens. It wasn't till we returned, during the day on Sunday, that we saw the extent of the flooding and the number of fallen trees and branches.
We even stopped in Newcastle for a quick peek at the massive Pasha Bulker container ship (pictured here) that found itself grounded on the beach by the conditions.
One highlight of the weekend for me was feeding a flock of lorikeets (small, brightly coloured parrots) on our hotel balcony with bits of cookie; around 20 of them descended on Graham. I doubt the guests in the neighbouring hotel rooms were quite so amused at the noisy 9 am intrusion though. We captured the cute, twittering things on video, which I've posted here on youtube (and embedded below).
Next up will be my pics from London and Rome in May. -- J
